Therefore it is better to cover the hole by using a tea ball strainer split into half. The diameter of the hole is exactly the same as that of the tea ball strainer. This will cover the hole and prevent dirt and food particles from falling straight into the pump.
- Step 3: Vinegar
For perfection in cleaning, you may add about 1-2 coffee cups of vinegar into the dishwasher and let it sit overnight. It breaks down any slime that might tend to build up inside the weak pimp and help it flush everything out the next morning.
Cleaning Methods
In case the prevention methods fail to prevent the clogging of the pump, use a wet/dry vac . Even a small vac is powerful enough to suck out water and everything from the dishwasher. Remove the dishwasher filter to reach the bottom and properly eradicate the tiny food pieces or the water stuck in there.
If that does not resolve your problem, check the hose. The hose could also be clogged and for that you would need to remove the hose from the sink sewer pipe. After that try to vacuum it as well.
